PRESENTATION OF AWARDS

ANNUAL REPORT 2007-08
It gives me great pleasure to present this annual report. We praise God for His continued blessings on us since our formation in 1938, 70 years ago. To mark this special anniversary, each member is being presented with a specially engraved souvenir pen. At the joint GB/BB Enrolment Service in November we registered a membership of 95.

QUEEN'S AWARD
Congratulations Lauren Hamilton on achieving this highest possible GB Award. Lauren is only the third member of the company to gain this award.

CHARITY
This year the Brigaders decided their main badge would be raising money for charity and they researched and settled on "Bread for Kenya". Over Christmas, instead of sending cards, we raised £171, the Juniors collected coins in jars raising £135, and we ask for your support for: -

The Fashion Show which will be held in this hall on 19th March at 7.30 pm
The proceeds will go to purchase 'water tanks for Kenya' - a very worthy cause.

COMPETITIONS
This year our competitions were all PE - teams competed in the District competition for Explorers, Juniors, and Seniors. Lauren Hamilton competed as a Brigader solo entry at Inter-district Level, and Emma Hyndman competed in the Associate solo competition at NI level. The company is very proud of all its competitors who performed very well on the day.

ANNUAL ACTIVITIES

  • During GB Week, members collected a total of £1,315. This was a great response
  • Explorers and Tinies had fun, games and presents at their Christmas Party
  • Juniors and Brigaders visited Glasswater Home and entertained/visited the residents
  • A successful camp was held in Ayr in July. For a change, and in an endeavour to facilitate more members, camp this year will be in Kilkeel in August
  • On Remembrance Sunday a wreath was laid at the War Memorial by 3 senior girls
  • The Annual District Service and Parade will take place in Kilkeel on 20th April

SPECIAL THANKS
We are delighted to welcome Jennifer Chambers this evening as our special guest, retired after many years of teaching a Senior Bible Class for us. And thanks to our Chaplain for his continued support throughout the session.
Our thanks also go to all those who helped us during the year - to Janet Kirk and Olga McKeown for helping with specialist badge activities, Kate Beattie for her continued support, to Christine Murphy, Church Cleaner. My special thanks to the Officers and leaders for their talents, time and patience during the session. We thank God for his blessing on our Company as we continue to "Seek, serve and follow Christ''
